Cox’s Bazar, renowned for its 120-kilometer stretch of uninterrupted sandy beach, is one of Bangladesh’s premier tourist destinations, welcoming millions of visitors annually. Despite its immense appeal, the region has long lacked a centralized digital solution to support real-time travel guidance, tourist safety, and access to essential services. To bridge this gap, the VROMONIKA mobile application—“One Stop Tourist Guide”—was developed as a smart tourism platform offering bilingual access, personalized travel tools, safety alerts, and integrated support services. The solution harnesses mobile-first architecture, AI-driven features, and real-time data feeds to enhance visitor experiences while supporting the local economy.
Project Context
Initiated by the Cox’s Bazar District Administration, VROMONIKA reflects a forward-thinking approach to digital governance and tourism modernization. As the district continues to cope with infrastructure stress from both surging tourist numbers and the global refugee crisis, this app serves as a scalable, citizen-centric response. Developed by Inflack, the application integrates cutting-edge technologies like Flutter for cross-platform mobile development, Firebase and AWS S3 for cloud storage and push notifications, and custom-built AI modules to deliver dynamic itinerary planning and real-time services to users.
Challenges
Before the launch of VROMONIKA, tourists commonly faced the following issues:
- Disjointed Information Sources: No single platform offered reliable and up-to-date content on attractions, transport, or accommodations.
- Lack of Emergency Connectivity: Tourists had limited access to verified emergency contacts or alerts on environmental risks like high tides or storm warnings.
- Inefficient Trip Planning: Visitors struggled to organize their travel due to absence of interactive, AI-guided planning tools.
- Minimal Digital Presence for Local Vendors: Many small businesses were unable to promote their services or engage digitally with tourists.
- Language Barriers: International travelers often encountered difficulties accessing relevant information in English.
Our Solution
Inflack designed VROMONIKA as a robust, cloud-based mobile application tailored to meet both the needs of tourists and the local economy. Built using Flutter for Android and iOS, and backed by Firebase, Redis, and RESTful APIs, the app ensures responsive, real-time access to vital features. Key components include:
- AI-Powered Travel Planning: An intelligent itinerary builder customized by trip duration, budget, and travel type (solo or family).
- Real-Time Alerts & Emergency Notices: Weather updates, tidal forecasts, travel bans, and disaster warnings via integrated push notification systems.
- Interactive Tourist Guide: Location-specific details including distance, routes, food, lodging, safety measures, and costs.
- Transport Info & E-Ticketing: Seamless access to travel schedules, fares, and online bookings for buses and other local transport options.
- Local Business Listings: Promotion of hotels, restaurants, beach services, and cultural events—boosting local visibility and economic participation.
- 24/7 Emergency Call Center: Direct access to district-administered helpline services for immediate assistance and tourist support.
- Digital Feedback Mechanism: Enables users to lodge complaints or suggestions, which are monitored and acted upon by the administration.
- Offline Functionality: Cached content ensures the app remains usable in areas with limited or no internet access.
- Bilingual Accessibility: Full support in Bangla and English for broader usability among both local and foreign visitors.
